First off, I’d like to take this opportunity to say Thank You for visiting my site. I know there are tonnes of blogs out there for you to visit, and chances are you do, but I just want you to know, that I’ll do my part in keeping things interesting, and I hope you’ll do yours by keep coming back.
So, who am I?
I’ve spent the last 18 years working in a number of industries, wearing a number of hats. Know what I’ve learned? I need more places to put my hats….kidding, I’ve learned that help seems to find a way of showing up in places you least expect to look. Welcome to my place.
Seriously though, over the past 18 years, I’ve worked as a Massage Therapist, Graphic Designer, and Visual Marketing Designer. Worked in Senior Management in the fields of Marketing, Business Development (not sales), Business Strategy and Business Operations. I’ve found solutions to problems the people I worked with didn’t even know existed, and the solutions I’ve found have garnered me a broad skill set. One of my biggest accomplishments is coming up with a concept for a social media website that received a buyout offer of $100 Million before it was even fully developed and documented. Nice right? Of course the disadvantage of working for someone else is, they can choose to go another direction than the one you recommend, regardless of how good it might be. The trick is, don’t give up being the best you can at what it is that you do. Some day, someone will notice, and that’ll be a great day for you. I’ve written dozens of business plans from cover-to-cover, found solutions to transitional problems, developed marketing strategies and practices, built, sustained, and even re-built companies from the ground up, and taught others how to do the same. I don’t meant to sound like a braggart, but you should know who you’re dealing with up front and what their qualifications are.
If you were to ask me what my goal in life is, I’d have to say it’s to find a way in keeping the mousetrap ahead of the mouse’s learning curve. They’re tricky little suckers and they don’t miss a trick. My personal motto is, “Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam” or “Either I will find a way, or I will make one”, and each day I strive to stay in line with that message…thus this blog. I’m here to share what I’ve learned, and hopefully, learn a few things from you in the process. Nothing has any value unless others are willing to trade for it, so I hope you feel encouraged to interact and share back with me through your comments.
When you look at my logo you might be wondering, “Why a Scarab Terry?”. Well, the scarab is the sign of ‘rebirth’ or ‘transformation’, which I identify with heavily. As I’ve said, I’ve done a great deal with my life, and I’m nowhere near done yet. The scarab has been my call-sign in video games for decades, it’s my signature in the artwork I’ve done, and like the Phoenix, represents my ability to rise from every tumble. I don’t stay down. Sure I’ve made some mistakes, but I’ve learned from them, which is the message I want to share. Each and every bit of information I share here is something I hope you find interesting enough to want to learn from. I won’t promise that it’ll make sense up-front, but trust me, the things I do work, so I hope you’ll at least give any advice I offer a chance to work for you.
So of all the things on this site I’ll be sharing with you, one of my passions is cooking. I love food. To me, it takes a certain type of person to take that little bit of extra time in preparing a meal for others. The attention to detail, flavours, texture and balance say everything when it comes to making your belly happy. The thing you might not be aware of is, it’s not that hard to do, and in food section of this blog, I’m going to show you not just how easy it is, but how good you can be doing it too.
Now, I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t say that I’d like to keep doing what I do for a living in spite of sharing all this with you, but, I do what I do in a very specific way. It’s not enough to know what the scenario or problem is, you’ll also need to know why. That’s the most important question to finding the root of any problem, and I’ll get into that more and explain what I mean better in an article for you. If you’d like to speak to me professionally about coaching, consulting or would like to discuss my professional history more in-depth to source out opportunities, please take a moment and fill out the form below. I ask that you give me 24-48 hours to respond though as I want to ensure that I set aside the time to give you my full attention.
Thank you again for visiting, and I hope you enjoy your stay.
Sincerely,
Terry Stern
